Reuben Dakin
BA(Hons) MIRSE MIEE
Reuben joined the rail industry as a sponsored student with the British Rail Eastern Region Signalling and Telecommunications Engineering Department in 1986. He has gained working experience of a variety of technical fields including signalling design, maintenance technical support and design management. He then progressed to project management of signalling projects in both client and contractors' organisations.
Reuben then joined a training provider, with responsibility for signalling design training and management of designer development programmes on behalf of a number of major customers. In this role Reuben developed an expertise in the design and delivery of design training, receiving frequent praise from delegates, and a "Trainer of the year" award. Particular highlights included the design and delivery of programmes to train maintainers on new equipment introduced during the EROS project. This successful project led to a major involvement in the TPWS implementation project, with the design and delivery of specific training modules to train existing designers, installers testers and maintainers on the novel aspects of the TPWS equipment. Both of these projects demonstrated the principle of "right sized" training - the ability to take delegates from an identified starting point, to an identified objective in the most efficient way.
In 2002 Reuben joined Signet Solutions. In this role he has designed completely new courses to meet familiar training needs in the signalling design field. Reuben is Signet Solutions Technical Director, and is responsible for the design and delivery of most of the signalling design events.
