An experienced training establishment manager, has well developed team skills both in the military and civilian spheres. Competent as a qualified teacher, apprentice mentor, post graduate lecturer, and as an academic registrar. Paul designed, bought, introduced and managed new and innovative training and education solutions; culminating in the “best practice” award from the Defence Training Review for work with Undergraduates at Southampton University, for which he received the OBE in 2003

  • Commanding Officer Thunderer Squadron and Director of Studies in charge of MOD Engineering Undergraduate education and training at Southampton University. Networking with relevant Institutes at Director level to ensure strategic direction of professional qualifications to suit the needs of the military engineer. A four year autonomous command, remote from the administration authority.
  • Member of the Faculty of Engineering Board, Southampton University.
  • Member of the Management Board, Britannia Royal Navy College, Dartmouth.
  • Executive Officer HMS Collingwood. Leading a strong and cohesive team to manage a 3000 person training and education establishment. Provide the change management to introduce commercial training sales to civilian organisations. Managing the impact of foreign and commonwealth training sales to civilian organisations. Managing the impact of foreign and commonwealth personnel within the training and domestic environment. Leading the organisation of large scale RN sales conferences, as well as commercial and public events.
  • Submarine Training Manager responsible for equipment definition, contract letting, contract monitoring, and equipment delivery. Leading the introduction of e-learning to the Submarine Flotilla. Attending international conferences, sponsoring my staff’s papers, in the USA and Europe.
  • Responsible for the International re-enactment of Marconi’s first transmission across the Atlantic, bringing together USA, Canadian and British teams at Embassy Government level’ attracting millions of CNN viewers.
